It sucks that this person died. He was someone’s son, cousin, friend. I get that, and I think pretty much everyone thinks it sucks he died. But, he died by his choices and actions. He led a live filled with crime. He died committing several crimes. And not the least of which, is he was trying to KILL, not one, but two Police Officers. No one is so naive as think there are not some problems in the policing profession that have to continue to be improved upon, but these two Officers are out there every day, risking their lives to try and make life better for all of us. And they are sons, cousins, friends of people too. This person (I refuse to call him a man) does not deserve any outpouring of support. The Officers do. He died for himself. They came close to dying, for us.

It is such an upside down world we live in. A ‘star’ who has several overdoses and it finally kills them, gets huge amounts of support/respect/press (Amy Winehouse,Whitney Houston, countless others) because they can sing, a professional athlete can beat his wife, buy and sell drugs, fight dogs, and they are revered, and paid millions all because they can throw a football, or hit a baseball.  And yet the real heroes are nameless and faceless.  On a train in France, 3 young men, at great personal peril, subdued a terrorist before he could carry out his plan to kill innocent people.  Do we know their names?  Next week will anyone remember them?  Daily we are protected by Police, Military, Firefighters, Nurses, Doctors, EMTs, etc and yet, we vilify them and promote that very small percentage of people who are causing the vast majority of the crime and keeping our society hostage.

It should to stop. It needs to stop. It has to stop.
